March Wine Madness

Once again we will gather in comfortable bubbles and have  March wine madness!  Mark the evening of the 19th of March on your calendar. This event would work best with 4 or 8 people., so if you want to host, contact you friends! We hope vaccines will be received by then.

This game has a bracket (just like for basketball!)

First thing to do is invite others with who you are comfortable, to you home so you have either 4 or 8 players.   Otherwise you can use a “bye”.  Have each player bring a bottle of wine with a max cost of $15. You, as host, may decide if you want to do red or white!  The list of registrants is on our web page, but feel free to invite friends. Pick up some paper wine bags at the wine store so that you have one for each bottle.  When people arrive, remove the cork and put each bottle in a bag.  Be sure to wrap securely (no peeking) and then mix them up so no one knows which is which.  Then number the bags 1 - 4 (or 8).

If you can, use two wine glasses per person.  Pour a TASTE of wine #1 in one glass and #2 in the other. Now swirl, smell and taste. Take you time and discuss and then vote between those two.  The winner will move up in the bracket.  Repeat with 3 and 4 (and 5/6 7/8).  At the end you will have a winner!

You may want to have people bring a dish to share (and perhaps have apple slices for “cleansing” the palate)!  Feel free to have a half time break to have a bite of food and shake some pompoms to keep the momentum going!  We will arrange a Zoom call for 8:00 and share what the winning wine is and give the glory to the person who brought it!!  The Zoom link will be sent to attendees 2-3 days before the event.

Each person should have have their own printed bracket to make tasting notes.  And remember to drink water :)
