PROFILES - 2025 - 2027 MVIFS BOARD MEMBERS
Rose Barstow (Vice President)
I was raised in Maria Stein, Ohio and have also lived in Michigan and Texas. I returned to the Dayton area in 1983. My two children and their families live in the Denver area. I joined the wine club in 2006 and have enjoyed meeting people and drinking wine ever since. I’m also a member of the Dayton Women’s Social League.
Dennis Cassette
My name is Dennis Cassette and I’ve been on the MVIFS Board of Directors for two years. My wife’s name is Linda, and together we have 5 children and 9 grandchildren. Family can be busy at times, but we try to attend many events with the Miami Valley Institute of Food And Spirits. (MVIFS). I retired from Wright Patterson Air Force base in 2006 from Senior Executive Service as Director of Engineering. I later consulted for 7 years in the private sector in engineering and program management. Travel was a big part of my life professionally and personally. I am interested in hearing from you if you have program ideas or recommendations in general that would add to our great organization.
Dave Corcoran
I am a long-time area resident and a proud graduate of the University of Dayton. I have three adult children and eleven grandchildren that also reside in the area providing constant opportunity to attend sporting events, band concerts, graduations, and other family gatherings. I started my career as an engineer in the automotive industry, but now I am a part of a local corporation that provides test equipment to the auto and aerospace market. I have additional academic degrees and certifications in several areas including Physics, Managerial Finance, Economics, and Marketing. I also enjoy playing bad golf and sipping good Irish Whiskey. I’ve been a member of the MVIFS and its predecessor organization for many years.
Kristen (Kris) Green
I have been married to Tom for 46 years and we have 4 children. We’ve lived at Yankee Trace for 5 years. Tom is a senior partner at Green & Green, Lawyers. I keep busy with my kids, grandkid, horse and 2 dogs. I have done lots of volunteer work previously with Children’s Medical Center, TWIGS (Festival of Trees and Sugarplum chair), and Women’s Board. Tom and I are current members of Ohio Horseman’s Council in Warren and Greene Counties. My Standard Poodle, Max, and I just successfully completed a pet therapy course with Miami Valley Pet Therapy Association. I’m looking forward to visiting Hospice of Dayton and the cancer center of Miami Valley Hospital with him. Thank you for including me in the MVIFS board.
Ted Humphrey
I have been a longtime resident of Centerville/Washington TWP for nearly 50 years. My wife Kay and I have 3 children, 5 grandchildren and just welcomed our first 2 great grandchildren. Golf and visiting wineries are my hobbies...have visited well over 100 wineries in the US and 20 countries. I still work part-time in security field and part owner of security company in Dubai. I look forward to helping MVIFS with wine events.
Jayne McDougall
I've been a member of MVIF&S, along with my husband Bill, since 2020. I’ve had the pleasure of serving on the Board as Membership Chair since 2023. Bill and I have two adult children, Michael, who lives in Tallahassee, Florida, and Jennifer, who’s in Columbus, Ohio—as well as our fun-loving Beagle, Cali. I’m still involved with McDougall Marketing Communications, the company I started 40 years ago, though I’ve eased into a lighter schedule. I love staying active with tennis, pickleball, fitness classes, and traveling with Bill.
Charlie McKenzie (President) I was born and raised in South Carolina and graduated from Clemson University with a BS in Mathematics. I married the beautiful Ginny Buffington, from Beaufort S.C., 54 years ago and we have two children and three grandsons. Ginny, who had her own career as a Medical Technologist, was by my side through 30 years in the U.S. Army and then 12 years as a defense contractor with ManTech International. We moved to Bellbrook, OH from Kaneohe, Hawaii in 2014 to be closer to kids and grandkids. I’m an avid tennis player, enjoy playing the piano, and have had a great time as a member of MVIFS since 2017.
Dr. Katherine (Katie) Mitakides
I have been a member of AIWF/MVIFS since 2005. I served on the AIWF board from 2010–2014, including as president during its transition to MVIFS. As a financial advisor and mom to two amazing kids, I am a passionate advocate for education and an active community member, volunteering with the PTO and at my children’s school. I’m excited to rejoin the MVIFS board and look forward to serving in any capacity needed.
Janet Moland
I spent my career as an agent/owner of a State Farm agency in Centerville. I almost celebrated 30 years with the Company but retired about six months prior to that date when I got a breast cancer diagnosis. I have celebrated 13 years cancer free and now travel all that I can. My passion has always been music and dance. For 30 years I performed and directed an adult women’s show choir, CENTER STAGE. As with so many other things, that went by the wayside with Covid. I was on several boards in the community and the only one that continues is MVIFS. I have been involved with MVIFS, formerly AIWS, for 35 years and have worked on Programs for at least 30 of those. Much of my time is now spent with my best friend and SO, Gary Ware, traveling anywhere we can think of and snow-birding together in Florida. I love the friendships I have made since day one with AIWF. I think that might be when I met Jeanne and Bob Evans and John Cloppert, and I cherish so many more friendships made since then.
