  Five Seasons Sports Club

  Please join us for wine tasting with pairings at Five Seasons on Sunday, May 5th.  Brian DeMark, one of only 350 Sommelier in the U.S., and Chef David Glenn, one of Dayton's finest chefs, are creating an unforgettable evening of tasting fine wines and foods for us.  Brian will select and educate us on wines from unique locations like Croatia, Sylvania, Turkey and Greece and Chef David will prepare the perfect pairings for each wine.  Not only that, but each attendee will receive a bottle of wine to drink or take home, and the chance to purchase more of his/her favorite wines from the tastings.  This will be a wonderful opportunity to invite your friends to experience a fun and educational MVIFS event.

  The cost for this event is $40 per person. Maximum number of attendees is changed from 50 to 60 after coordination with Five Seasons.  A Wait List will be created for those who want to attend if and when the maximum number is reached.  Due to lead time required for ordering the wine and food and the need to have an accurate count of the number of attendees, cut-off for registration is April 28, 2024.   This special event will be held at McKenzie Manor, 2844 Wilmington Dayton Rd, Bellbrook, OH 45305. Charlie and Bob will be your cooks for the boil.  Charlie has replenished his bourbon stock from last year's Pig Roast, and will, once again, open up his extensive bourbon bar for those who like bourbon.  Beach music will the music of the day, and Charlie and Ginny may even give "Carolina Shag" lessons to anyone who wants to learn the basic steps. 

  'Lowcountry Boil' is a specialty of the Carolina Coastal Area, and the dish includes shrimp, sausage (mild and spicy), potatoes and corn on the cob, all flavored with special spices.  Salad will also be provided, along with desert.  Please let Charlie know if anyone is allergic to shrimp and he will come up with non-shrimp 'boil' option.  Tea and water will be provided, but you can BYOB if you want wine, beer, or something stronger.

  This 'Members Only' event starts at 5:30 PM with dinner being served between 6:00 and 6:30. Member cost is $15.  Attendance will be limited to the first 60 registrants, but a waiting list will be established for additional members who want to attend.

  Join us for a night of fun, laughter, and brain-teasing excitement! Our Fiesta Trivia event is the perfect way to spice up your week and connect with friends, both old and new.

  
  

  • Form a team of your sharpest amigos (Approx. 6 people per team).
  • Dive into 4-5 rounds of diverse and entertaining trivia questions that will test your knowledge.
  • After each round, prepare to mix and mingle as we shuffle teams, creating new connections and friendships along the way.
  • Fiesta-themed prizes awarded to the winning team after each round.

  Please join us to visit one of the most beautiful gardens in Oakwood.   Smith Memorial Gardens is located on less than one acre at the corner of Oakwood Avenue and Walnut Lane.  Smith Gardens boasts one of the "finest tiny public gardens in Ohio. It's like a secret treasure on an ordinary side street." - Ohio Magazine, April, 1996. Various plants and flowers attract birds, small creatures and butterflies for the public's enjoyment. 

  We will meet in the garden house which is at the rear of the garden.
  MVIFS will provide a charcuterie board and we are asking you to bring a bottle of wine to share.

  In case of inclement weather we will meet at the home of Jim and Judy Steiger.  You will be notified if we are switching locations.

  Lets celebrate the happy, wonderful music of ABBA.   ABBA were a Swedish pop supergroup formed in Stockholm in 1972   ABBA music was featured in the movie Mama Mia.

  We will begin the evening with an Absolute cocktail to celebrate one of Sweden’s famous exports.  We ask you to bring a wine that begins with either an A or B (for ABBA) it does not need to be Swedish (they really can’t grow grapes in that cold climate).     Also, we’re asking you to bring an hors d’oeuvures, bonus points for you if it’s Swedish.   

  

  We’ll have ABBA music playing, and an Abba trivia contest for those who choose to participate. Carriage Trace’s large entryway will double as a dance floor for the “dancing queens” of the group.  This should be a happy, fun filled party. 

            Cost:   $15 per person

  Join us for a sparkling celebration at the distinguished Dayton Packard Museum. Elite Catering will provide a Gourmet Buffet sit down dinner with full china service for us to enjoy.  The menu includes: 

  • Elite Buffet Signature Salad (Fresh Spring Mix, Dried Cranberries, Sweet Mandarin Oranges, Sliced Strawberries, Sugared Pecans, Crumbled Feta, and Apple Cider Vinaigrette Dressing) 
  • Boneless Braised Beef Short Ribs Braised in Red Wine and topped with a Peppercorn Cream Sauce 
  • Stuffed Chicken Marsala Stuffed with Chopped Fig, Silky Mascarpone Cheese, and topped with a Sweet Mushroom Marsala
