Engineer Club History: The Club was founded in 1914 and the club building was erected in 1918.  At the time, it incorporated a number of innovations including a built-in master vacuum cleaning system similar to Orville Wright’s self-designed system at Hawthorne Hill and a pneumatic system that synchronized the club’s clocks through a bellows, which advance the minutes and hours via suction or puffs of air.  Buttons for the servant annunciator network are still visible around the building.  The original club included sleeping quarters, barber shop, men’s lounge, ladies lounge  featuring neoclassical decorations similar to the famous potter’s designs, a library, auditorium, game room dedicated to billiards and pool and a large dining room.  Our tour will begin with a glass of wine and end with dinner in the Club Dining Room.
